What Certified Spaces is, and how a record is made.

Certified Spaces reads what wellness stays can prove about their air, water, light, wireless, materials, food, nature and quiet, and shows the source for every line. The places that pass an in-person assessment carry the Human Garage Certified Spaces seal.

  • What we do

Every place is Listed, Verified or Certified, and each line on its page shows where it came from.

  • Who runs it

Human Garage, with specialists in health and wellness and independent assessors.

  • How a record is made

What the place publishes, what it sends us, and what we see in person.

  • No one pays to rank

A place cannot pay to be listed, to score higher or to appear higher.

What we do

We read the wellness stays and retreats people are considering, line by line, across eight things that shape how a place feels to stay in: air, water, light and sleep, wireless and wiring, materials, food, nature and quiet.

Every place sits in one of three states.

  • Listed. We have read what the place publishes, and every line carries its source and the date we read it.
  • Verified. The place has confirmed its details with us directly.
  • Certified. The place has been assessed in person and holds the Human Garage Certified Spaces seal, at one of three tiers: Aligned, Advanced or Sanctuary.

Where a place holds another certification, such as WELL or Green Key, its page names the body that issued it.

Who runs it

Certified Spaces is run by Human Garage. The team brings together specialists who have worked in health and wellness for more than ten years and a technical team that builds and maintains the index.

Human Garage Certified Spaces issues the seal. Certified places are reviewed in person by Human Garage and by independent third-party assessors.

How a record is made

Each record sets out what we know about a place across the eight things we check, and how we know it.

Records are built from three things.

  • What the place publishes, on its own site and elsewhere.
  • What the place sends us.
  • For places we have visited, what we saw in person, recorded as a visit note.

Every record shows its sources and the date we read them.

A low score, or a gap, means information was not published. It does not mean a place is unsafe, unhealthy or poorly run.

The full method and the criteria behind each of the eight are on how we check.

What a record cannot tell you

Every record is a snapshot of what a place had published when we read it, and that date is on the page. Conditions change: a place can refit, change suppliers or replace a system at any time.

We re-read records and ask places directly for updates. Use a record as a guide to what to ask, not a substitute for asking. Take your own questions to the place before you book, and tell us if you find something we have wrong.

No one pays to rank

A listing cannot be bought, and no payment changes what a record says. A place cannot pay to be added, to be removed, to score higher or to appear higher.

Corrections and the right of reply

We publish a judgement about a named business, so we publish an address to answer it at.

If something here is out of date or wrong, write to corrections@verifiedwellnessspaces.com. A property answering a record of its own can write to reply@verifiedwellnessspaces.com.

Corrections we make are logged in public, in the changelog. A property can also send evidence through the claim form.

Check us

Everything this index publishes is available as data, free to use with attribution. One row per claim, each carrying its source, the date we read it and how much weight it can hold. It is built in the same pass as the pages, so a file cannot disagree with the page beside it. See the data feed.

The inclusion and review rules say who qualifies for a record, how one is built, how a correction is checked and what would get a record removed. Where something is not settled yet, that page says so.
